Lucy Liu was born in the US. She is an American singer, actress and voice actor. She's a beautiful, intelligent actress who inspires many Asian actors to achieve success in Hollywood. After a series of appearances in television shows that were popular, she became famous for her role as a character in Ally McBeal legal comedy where she portrayed Ling Woo. Following a dramatic rise in her popularity, she was offered roles on major screens like Shanghai Noon and Charlie's Angels. The actress then gave a superb performance as Japanese criminal O'Ren Ishii as part of Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill Volume 1. She also played leading characters in failed box office films like Rise: Blood Hunter. Later, she became voice actor for animated movies, such as Kung Fu Panda. Mia Mason, in Cashmere Mafia as well as other smaller-screen roles failed to bring her much success. An appearance in the critically acclaimed police drama series Southland helped re-establish herself as an actress of note. Liu selects her roles with care so that she doesn't get typecast in a competitive industry. While she's proud of her heritage but she doesn't let that limit her creativity.
